How to explore Galicia from Casa Follas Novas

Casa Follas Novas is perfectly suited to explore all of Galicia. One minute away from the house you have a highway to Santiago (5 minutes) and to a knot of highways you can use to reach every Galician corner.

However, we want to highlight small excursions you can do in the day or even in a morning, so you have time to return and enjoy a drink or just relax by the pool.


  • Very close to the house you have 3 wonderful Pazos, or Galician rural Palaces, off the beaten track and well worth a visit. Pazo de Oca, Pazo de Vista Alegre and Pazo do Faramello.


  • We encourage you to visit the Monastery of Carboeiro, the young work of the very master of Santiago`s, Cathedral, Mestre Mateo, and located in a magic place where you can also have a river walk or a bath.


  • For the more adventurous, you can do a rafting activity in the Ulla River, ending almost by the sea at Pontecesures, the place where the stone boat carrying the  Apostol arrived after its death


  • More quietly, you can desced the Tambre River and reach Noia Bay almost effortlessly, doing birdwatching and relaxing in front of a beautiful landscape

What to do at Ria de Muros y Noia

Noia Bay, for short, is wonderful. The are plenty of activities to do, and I would like to highlight our favourites

  • Go for the dolphins. There are dolphins almost every day, but  never in the same place. The are very common near Porto Do Son, Aguieira beach and cossing the Ría in direction to A Creba Island. Pick a boat and follow them, they are a great spectacle. Or better, just pick the Kayak or the surf board and test your luck
  • Ride the Barbanza Range with a Mountain e-bike. You have plenty of trails, Celtic Tombs, Horses, Great Views and even iconic rural bars where to stop by. You can spend the whole day biking thorugh the hills watching our Ria from the top
  • Visit As Furnas beach and enjoy the seaside bars. Either you surf, walk even kilometers though the beach, do some bird watching at San Pedro lagoon or simply  contemplate the sunset. You will not forget

How we started

We invested in the houses for ourselves but we had to move away from Galicia for business reasons. So we decided to start this business instead of selling the houses.


You can see 2 Quarks in the photo. The third one is away but still there are stable states in nature with only 2 Quarks :-)
